On Day 2, we had break-out groups. One group focused on "facilitating collaboration." The other groups addressed common core (math and language arts).
At New Technology High, outdoor space is pretty fabulous. The NC 2013 Summer Residency participants enjoyed it here. With the great Napa Valley weather, during the school year, the space is used as a classroom.
The Cyber Cafe at New Tech High is a great place for students to hang out- between classes, at lunch, and after school. It is a safe, inviting space with internet access and lots of space to enjoy friends. North Carolina New Schools Participants enjoyed the space, too. Morning check-in was held here, as were coffee and lunch breaks.
Tuesday, July 23, 2013: Here is where we will spend the next week, New Technology High School, 920 Yount Street; Napa, CA where "trust, respect, and responsibility" are the foundation of all interaction.
Here we see a few of the North Carolina delegates. We were all eager to learn more about this model high school. This LEEDS certified facility is vested in project-based learning that incorporates the local community as much as possible.
We were greeted by several faculty members and the principal, Michelle Spencer.
Even after the work day ended, the North Carolina delegates spent time building community, meeting colleagues from around the state, and enjoying the sights and sounds of Napa Valley.

Monday, July 22, 2013: Here we see some of the North Carolina New Schools' delegation getting ready to leave the plane and start their week-long residency at New Technology High School. The flights were long, but De and the rest of the office staff did a great job seeing that all of the delegates were as comfortable as possible.
